Our school board met on Thursday evening this week and things are moving right along on schedule! Our search for the Director of Operations yielded over 50 applications that we are reviewing, and we will begin interviewing candidates soon!
In addition to our school board, there were representatives from our charter school authorizer (GVSU), NCSI (National Charter School Institute), OMPEF (Old Mission Peninsula Education Foundation), and a handful of community members. The meeting included reports on staffing, updates from OMPEF and GVSU, and a finance committee budget update. The OMPS School Board's attorney was present as well and spent some time reviewing contract and lease agreements. The school board officially approved the charter contract with GVSU. The contract will be sent to GVSU for approval, before it moves on to the state. The attorney discussed various lease options for the board to consider that will incorporate community activities and involvement while offering an excellent educational environment for students.
Full meeting minutes will be available after board approval at the Peninsula Township Office.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th at 6pm at the Township Hall (right next door to the Township Office). All are invited and encouraged to attend! We hope to see you there!
